Voting on Liverpool Schools Capital Project is March 14 – Eagle News Online

LIVERPOOL – On March 14, the Liverpool Central School District will ask residents to vote on the Liverpool High School Education 2020 capital project. Elements of the Capital Referendum will include renovation and building work at Liverpool High School, Wetzel Road CTE Academy (formerly Wetzel Road School) and Morgan Road Complex. It also includes site work at Long Branch Elementary and the Transportation Center.

As the district continues to move forward with the second phase of Education 2020 implementation, it is also working to develop a deeper understanding of the programmatic improvements and facilities needed to serve the Liverpool community in the future. Through this initiative, the district strives to use available resources not only to meet facility needs, but also to advance the district’s educational focus.

The estimated cost of this project is $72,184,922. Public aid for construction will cover approximately 86% of the total cost of the project. The district’s portion of the bond proposal will be covered by the 2015-2016 and 2020-2021 capital reserve funds. There will be no additional cost to LCSD ratepayers.

The proposed capital project will affect five district facilities:

Liverpool High School: Major center console renovations (100, 200, and 300), main entrance and canopy additions, cafeteria and kitchen renovations, air conditioning in parts of the building, science room upgrades, and athletics, including replacement of synthetic turf

Morgan Road Complex: Renovation of the music room and the orchestra hall; work on the site for the expansion of the parking lot, the synthetic turf softball field and the improvement of drainage
