CORRECTION: Remsenburg-Speonk Union Free School District capital project is $1.8 million

Information regarding a proposal on the budget vote for the Remsenburg-Speonk Union Free School District scheduled for Tuesday May 17 was reported inaccurately in the Western edition of Southampton Press on May 12.

Voters will be asked to vote on a capital expenditure of $1,836,230, which would be entirely financed by reserve funds, with no impact on taxpayers.

The proposal reads as follows:

Proposal No. 4

RESOLVED, (a) That the Board of Education of the Remsenburg-Speonk Union Free School District, in Suffolk County, New York (the “District”) is hereby authorized to reconstruct and reconfigure the interior space Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School The school is to provide additional teaching space for small groups and renovate the existing ground garage located in the north car park of said school for use as administrative and other space (the “Project ”), and devote expenses to it, including preliminary costs and ancillary costs. an amount not exceeding $1,836,230; and

(b) that $332,772 of funds on hand and available in the Remsenburg-Speonk Union Free School District 2004 Capital Reserve Fund, approved by the voters of the district on May 11, 2004, plus any interest income thereon , are hereby authorized to be expended to pay part of the cost of the project, and such expenses are hereby approved;

(c) that $1,503,458 of funds on hand and available in the “Remsenburg-Speonk Union Free School District 2017 Capital Reserve Fund”, approved by District voters on May 16, 2017, plus any interest income thereon ci, are hereby authorized to expend to pay the balance of the project cost.
