Caye International Bank appoints Luigi Wewege as President
SAN PEDRO, Belize, 22 December 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Board of Directors of Caye International Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Luigi Wewege as the new President of the bank. Wewege succeeds Peter Zipper who retired after more than a decade with Caye. Wewege is the third president of Banque Internationale Caye since its creation in 2003.

Mr. Wewege is a passionate and progressive banking executive with a proven track record of unleashing growth through a combination of new financial technology implementation, organizational restructuring and new processes. His expertise also includes digital banking, fintech leadership, strategic planning, product development, innovation, global sales management, omnichannel marketing and business transformation.
Luigi Wewege previously served as Senior Vice President and Head of Private Banking at Caye International Bank, where he contributed to double-digit growth in assets, customers and deposits. When Luigi joined Caye in 2017, it was the fifth largest international bank within Belize for total deposits. Now that he’s poised to assume his new role as chairman of the bank, Caye will soon be recognized as the country’s largest international bank.

Wewege holds an MBA in International Trade from the MIB Trieste School of Management in Italy as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a triple specialization in Finance, International Business and Management of University of Missouri-St. Louis. Outside of banking, he is an instructor at the FinTech School of California and is a guest member of the Forbes Finance Council. Luigi previously co-authored economic research which was presented to the United States Congress and is also the published author of: The Digital Banking Revolution which is available at all major international bookstores.
