Capital Projects Administration employees unhappy with CM move demand to know their fault
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Workers at the project’s headquarters office are uncertain about their future. On August 20, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the abolition of the Capital Projects Administration (CPA). The CM was annoyed to see the bad roads in the state capitol.
When Free Press contacted officials, they declined to say anything. Desiring anonymity, some of the officials said the CPA had become the scapegoat.
“If bad roads are the cause, then only 7.5% of the damaged roads were built by CPA and the rest were laid by Bhopal Municipal Corporation, PWD and other departments. So why was CPA targeted? said an official wishing to remain anonymous.
One of the officers said that he is preparing CPA details like assets, liabilities, work in progress details, number of employees, number of regular workers, daily bets etc.
The CPA has five divisions – Emergency Gas, Vidhan Sabha, Electrical and Mechanical and two Civil Construction Divisions. The five circles compile the data.
Although 15 days have passed since the Chief Minister’s announcement, no letter from the General Administration Department has been issued to shut down the CPA, officials said. However, correspondence related to the information collected moves from one service to another.
Recently, personnel information was sent to some departments, the department returned the information with the format and asked CPA officials to fill it accordingly. CPA Superintendent Engineer Ravi Mittal told Free Press that CPA has works worth more than Rs 360 crore to perform. “After construction, the roads are handed over to BMC, other departments for maintenance,” he added.
Unhappy with CM move
Officials are not happy with CM’s decision. One of the officers said that in each state, capital development authorities are present under different names. In Nagpur, Bangaluru, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authorities exist. One of the officers said that if the CM has a problem with the CPA, he can establish the Bhopal Metropolitan Development Authority and appoint more engineers to deal with the development of the state capital.
hands are full
